6 biggest local celeb moments of 2016 so far

Cape Town - Congratulations, you've made it half way through the year! We countdown six of 2016's most memorable celeb moments that had all of us talking. So far...

We're only approaching June and celebs have yet to disappoint. We break down the good, the bad, the scandal and the weird.

1. Gareth Cliff wins lawsuit against M-Net.

The year really kicked off with a bang when Idols judge Gareth Cliff weighed in on the controversial tweets made by Penny Sparrow.

M-Net announced that while it did't think Gareth is racist, his response to the issue showed a "lack of empathy". And so he got kicked off the show.

But Gareth Cliff quickly bounced back and won a huge lawsuit against M-Net in January, just hours before the first auditions for the show were due to start. And the celebrity won his bid to be reinstated on the Idols judging panel.

2. Cassper and Boity break up.

Shem. Their magazine cover shoot proclaiming their undying love for each other made us think their romance would last forever.

But finally after weeks of speculation surrounding their whirlwind romance which included rumours of cheating allegations, Boity finally set the record straight in March. She confirmed what we all were thinking all along, their relationship had ended.

Speaking exclusively to True Love magazine, Boity slammed cheating rumours explaining that the split was amicable.

3. AKA and Bonang go public (kinda).

When the news of AKA and Bonang's affair first surfaced, there was major controversy. Lies, cheating rumours, lawsuits, sub-tweets and shade were rife on our timelines.

The couple continued to deny all claims of ever being involved. The couple's relationship was pretty much celebtown's worst kept secret. The Juice even confirmed that the couple were on holiday in Mozambique together, after we called the hotel that they were staying at!

The couple now finally started posting pics of each other on their social media pages and we love it. They're even dropping the L-bomb on Twitter.

4. AKA's many Twitter meltdowns.

Last week AKA went on a major Twitter rant against his baby mama Zinhle who went on to respond to him in a set of her own spicy tweets. (Read the full story here.)

Monday evening he was at it again. Tweeting some major shade at long time collaborator and producer Tweezy, who has been behind some of AKA's biggest hits like All Eyes On Me and Run Jozi. (Read the full story here.)

Then there was the Twitter beef with Pearl Thusi. Ai. There isn't enough space on this list to mention them all. (But you can read all about that here)

5. Euphonik's sexist Twitter rant.

DJ Euphonik took to Twitter to humiliate and shame Bonang Matheba. The local muso had no problem airing his dirty laundry on social media, when he called out Bonang saying, "Msunu yenu, NONKE." You can read all the tweets here.

6. Queen Twerk makes a sex tape.

Faith Nketsi‚ South Africa's self-proclaimed "Queen of Twerk‚" "accidentally" posted a very explicit video of her and her bae on social media. And it certainly got the whole Twitterverse talking! We're still asking: Was it a mistake or done on purpose? We unpack the story here
