Cassper Nyovest was honored by the premier of Gauteng David Makhura at his annual Gauteng Province political report.
The 26-year-old rapper was commended for his achievement this past Saturday when he hosted a packed show at the FNB Stadium in Soweto – the artist sold more than 68 000 tickets for the #FillUpFNBStadium concert.
Cassper made history as the first South African hip-hop artist to draw such an audience at the stadium, even beating international acts Rihanna and Justin Bieber who have both performed at the stadium but did not sell as many tickets.
In his speech, Makhura called Cassper the most accomplished hip-hop artist in South Africa and the Gauteng government even took to Twitter to congratulate the artist.
The speech was followed by a private luncheon that Cassper attended with his mother. Check out the pictures here:
