It hasn’t been an easy journey for one of Mzansi’s most popular house music DJs.

In an interview on Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast show, DJ Ganyani – who has been in the music industry for over 20 years –  revealed he had to make major sacrifices to survive after he lost his mother.

“Whatever I’m doing now with music is the same thing I used to do at school. I use to study a lot. I was doing a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree at Unisa, it was just unfortunate that I had to drop out because my mom – who was the only breadwinner at that time – passed away so I couldn’t continue and that’s when I started my music career,” Ganyani said.

The Ntoni hitmaker stated his mom always wanted him to do well and he’d be happy if he was still alive.

“I used to listen to [the] radio Sesotho top 20 and if I heard something that I liked I would asked my mother to buy it for me,” he added.

“I think my mom is very happy and I wish she was around to see what her son has achieved. She always wanted me to do well even at school.”

There’s no sign of Ganyani slowing down anytime soon, he’s just released a new single Qluv featuring Wonderboy and dropped his latest album House Grooves 10 recently.

Master G is currently working on new music with Oe Batla Kae hitmaker De Mogul SA.

“I think you know the success of Oe Batla Kae by De Mogul SA. He’s from Mafikeng and I’ve been with him for more than three years. His single was a success and he’s releasing another single now with Professor called Send the Location,” he revealed.

“We are still working on his album due next year around the Easter and I’m still working on a project that has something to do with Eyadini in Durban, but I’ll reveal everything when I’m almost done with the whole thing.”
