The Idols SA finale was held at the Carnival City’s big top arena where fans gathered in their numbers to support the top two finalists, Mthokozisi Ndaba from KwaZulu-Natal and Paxton Fielies from Cape Town.  The two finalists were dressed to the nines and sang their hearts out on stage in order to nab the Idols SA season 13 title.

The supporters were entertained by the likes of Boom Shaka, DJ Tira, Destruction Boyz, Naak Musiq, season 12 winner Noma Khumalo, judge Somizi and Heavy K, Kwesta, ChianoSky, KidX and even kwaito legends TKZee.

But it was 17-year-old Paxton who stole the show and took home the title. She is now also the youngest Idols SA winner – by a few months – since Jody Williams who was also 17 when she won in 2007.

“I kept on procrastinating to enter competitions but I felt that 2017 was my risk-taking year and I feel that this was definitely a risk worth taking,” she said during the Idols SA conference.

The pint-sized singer first shot to stardom when a video of her singing Sam Smith’s Lay Me Down to her friends went viral on social media. After the video garnered so much attention, Paxton decided to enter Idols SA and blew the judges away at the Cape Town Auditions.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Paxton walks away with R1 million in cash, a brand new Ford Focus, musical equipment worth R78 000 from Yamaha, R100 000 fashion voucher from Truworths and a recording deal from Gallo music.

“I will definitely complete my studies whether it would through correspondence, online studying or home schooling because I do not think I will be able to physically go to school with gigs and shows happening,” the 17-year-old said.

“Thank you guys so much for supporting me and supporting my dream and being a part of it. I hope you guys will buy my music,” she added.

Paxton will start recoding with Gallo music next year January.
