Veteran actress Lillian Dube is now a doctor. The legendary star was recently awarded an honorary doctorate for drama and film production by the Tshwane University of Technology. The doctorate recognises and honours her work in film and TV over the past 30 years.

Muvhango actress Liteboho Molise attended the ceremony and chatted to DRUM about it. "The graduation was beautiful and it was very emotional for me personally because I know how much MmeLillian loves what she does and how much she loves people so it was very touching to see her receiving that love back in such a major way," Liteboho explained.

She’s happy Lillian is being honoured in the industry and her getting the doctorate inspires Liteboho as well.

"She joked and said she was going to wear her graduation outfit for the whole day because that was the first time she ever wore a graduation outfit – at the age of 72! I learned that when you do what you love wholeheartedly, eventually someone will notice. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor in MmeLillian. May God continue to bless her," Liteboho said.

On her honorary doctorate Dr Dube told Sowetan that she couldn't be prouder. "My late mother said to me while growing up that whatever work you do, do it diligently. She said even if you sweep floors, make people want to know who did the great work. I have taken that lesson with me all my life. Whatever I do, I do wholeheartedly and these are the fruits."
