Her dream came true when she performed alongside American singer Jason Derulo during the Coke Studio: Africa sessions earlier this year, but more good news was to follow later in the year when she heard her album, Rose Gold, had dropped on Apple Music France.
And if that wasn’t good enough, Durban-born Shekhinah (23) will now be the local supporting act for John Legend on his Darkness and Light Tour shows in Joburg on 4 and 5h November at the Ticketpro Dome and Durban on 7 November at Moses Mabhida Stadium. “I’m so excited about the future and everything that’s been happening in my career,” Shekhinah said. The down-to-earth singer adds that she hardly shares her success with people because she enjoys living in the moment.
