Miss Earth Ghana becomes an instant viral sensation with another comedic one-liner

Cape Town - Miss Earth Ghana Evelyn Abena Appiah is quickly becoming a crowned favourite to win the crown at the ongoing Miss Earth pageant in the Philippines.

Along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International, the competition is one of the "Big Four" international beauty pageants - the most coveted beauty titles in the world.

The winner will be announced on 26 October.

Abena, who is winning over crowds with her sense of humour, trended online after an interview with ABS-CBN News went viral.

"Ang batang malakas kumain ay laging may gana!" she says, laughing to the camera.

According to Rappler, the line is a staple in comedy routines and sketches, and translates to: "The child who eats well always has an appetite."

Gana also sounds like Ghana. Get it?

ABS-CBN reported that short clip, which came from a "TV Patrol" had already been shared over 25 000 times on Facebook, with nearly 1 million views.

It turned out, the beauty queen is friends with this Filipino beauty queen and taught her this joke.

During a second event, Abena once again flexed her comedy muscles and impressed the locals with her Filipino skills.

She ended her answer to a question about water conservation with: "Gumamit ng tabo, timba at palang-ghana!"

Which literally translates to: "Use a dipper, pail, and basin!"

Abena is one of 85 environment advocates competing for the Miss Earth 2019 crown. The winner will succeed Nguy?n Phuong Khánh of Vietnam, the reigning Miss Earth.

Representing South Africa on the big night is Miss Earth SA 2018 Nazia Wadee

Abena is no stranger to pageantry and was a delegate at the Miss Universe 2014 pageant.
