Johannesburg – It's official, Miss SA 2019 runner-up Sasha-Lee Olivier is heading to London to take part in the 2019 Miss World competition.
The Miss South Africa organisationconfirmed the news to Sasha-Lee herself, sharing her reaction in a video on Instagram. In the clip, Sasha-Lee is surprised with a Miss World SA cake and sash.
"We officially told Sasha she's going to Miss World, which is just phenomenal. We're so over the moon that she gets to represent South Africa at one of the greatest pageants," Miss SA CEO Stephanie Weill says in the video.
Excited to take on the international pageant, Sasha-Lee added: "I'm so excited to go to Miss World this year and have the opportunity to showcase my Beauty with a Purpose project, it's something that's so close to my heart. This has always been a lifelong dream, and it's just a surreal moment to have your dreams become a reality."
Sasha-Lee has not yet announced what her Beauty with a Purpose campaign will focus on.
Even before the news became official, Sasha-Lee had already been identified by fans as a hot pick for the Miss World competition.
Miss World 2019 takes place in London on 14 December. The last time South Africa snatched the Miss World crown was in 2014 with Rolene Strauss.
