Adè van Heerden takes over the Miss South Africa crown

Cape Town - Miss South Africa first princess Adè van Heerden has been crowned the new Miss South Africa 2017.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was crowned Miss Universe on Sunday and will be unable to fulfill her duties as Miss South Africa any longer. Adè will be taking over Demi-Leigh's responsibilities for the duration of her reign.

"South Africa, meet your new #MissSA2017, Dr. @ade_VH, (sic)" Official Miss South Africa tweeted.

Adè placed in the Miss World top 10, and won the Beauty with a Purpose prize at the beauty pageant held in China on 18 November.

During a lavish ceremony on Thursday, Adè also crowned her new first princess Boipelo Mabe.

Her first order of business was to talk to Jacaranda FM host and former Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie.
