Babes Wodumo's management: She’ll be at The BET Awards

Cape Town – South African singer Babes Wodumo was at the centre of a social media storm on Thursday when fans wondered if her scheduled trip to attend the BET Awards was cancelled.

This follows IOL’s report that Babes Wodumo is not going to The States anytime in the next few days because she has not applied for an American Travel visa.

Local magazine Drum also reports that Mampintsha (who is Babes's boyfriend and her record label boss) is still trying to get a Visa appointment with the US consulate.

Babes is nominated for the Best International Act: Africa award at the ceremony which is due to take place on Sunday, 25 June.

The Juice reached out to Babes’s label, West Ink Records and spoke to a person named Melody who refused to give her last name.

When we asked Melody if Babes was still going to The US and attending awards ceremony she said (repeatedly): "She’s definitely going, she’s going to The BET Awards, she’ll be at the BET Awards."

On Wednesday, 14 June the eThekweni Municipality gave Babes and Nasty (who both come from that region) a big send-off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and they were interviewed at the airport by eNCA.

Here’s a video of Nasty C and Babes Wodumo’s send off to The States at the airport reportedly “just before they jetted off”:

When we asked Melody if there was any delay with Babes’ trip and why she wasn’t travelling with Nasty C (who is already living it up Stateside) after having the above big send-offs with him and The West ink representative said: "Those photos and social media posts weren’t saying that Nasty C and Babes were not saying that they were going to travel together, it was just to celebrate their nominations."
