She’s not just Kelly Khumalo’s little sister, Zandie Khumalo-Gumede is a star in the making.
With her husky voice and notes that strike a chord, Zandie recently shot the music video for her song Nangu Makoti from her latest album, Izikhali ZaMantungwa.
The song is about a couple who has overcome many obstacles and finally finds happiness. “Couples go through a lot before they decide to get married.
It takes a lot of getting to know each other and putting up with each other’s families, but in the end love conquers all and that’s what the song is about. It’s a celebration,” Zandie explains.
Isibaya actors Samukele Mkhize and Mdu Gumede feature in the vid. “In Isibaya Samukele plays a calm, beautiful and patient character – a typical example of what a traditional husband looks for in a woman. She was the perfect person to play the bride,” Zandie says.
Mdu plays the role of a Zulu taxi driver. “I picked Mdu because he has an amazing body – he’s built like a warrior and has an amazing complexion,” she says.
Being married for over a year to Mhlo Gumede, Zandie says Nangu Makoti is a celebration of love and new beginnings – she hopes it will be enjoyed in the festive season.
The video will premiere on 31 December.
