Bokang Montjane takes a journey through her past

Johannesburg – Former Miss SA Bokang Montjane took a trip down memory lane on Thursday when she visited her childhood home.

The pageant queen shared a touching message with fans on her Instagram account, talking about her past and sharing some sweet memories.

"I took a drive to Ga-Mphahlehle the house we lived in for the best 8 years of my life," she wrote.

In the post, Bokang spoke about some of the hardships she faced growing up, also mentioning that she became emotional on her trip back.

“I got teary taking pics in this yard, inside mama and papas old house gosh even our old coal stove is still there (stofo sa Malahla) lol I have some of my best memories in this house.

“Yes I’m that girl who didn’t grow up in a village that had electricity,” she shared.

The star took the time to encourage fans who may have grown up in similar circumstances. "Don’t ever be ashamed of where you come from because that’s your strength, taking pride in who you are and where you come from."

Dear Beautiful Brown-Skinned Girl : I will say it again YOU ARE NOT DEFINED BY YOUR BACKGROUND... I took a drive to Ga-Mphahlehle the house we lived in for the best 8 years of my life... Don't ever be ashamed of where you come from because that's your strength, taking pride in who you are and where you come from. I got teary taking pics in this yard, inside mama and papas old house gosh even our old coal stove is still there ( stofo sa Malahla) lol I have some of my best memories in this house. I remember being little and waking up so early at about 4:30 every morning just so my dad could take me to Lebowakgomo to catch school transport to go to school at PCS because there wasn't even transport for kids from Gamphahlele to town for school...Yes I'm that girl who didn't grow up in a village that had electricity, yes I'm that girl when water would not run out from the outside tap we would go to the river (nokeng), And I am damn proud of where I come from. And still for some odd gracious reason even before I was conceived in my mothers womb God said "I CHOOSE HER AND I WILL BLESS WITH A LIFE BEYOND HER WILDEST DREAMS". Don't let anybody ever tell you because you are from a village or township , because you are black, or not from a rich family that you will not make it... If a beautiful brown skinned girl from GaMphahlele Seleteng could make it, you can!!! #KeepDreaming #KeepPushing #NeverGiveUp #TheWorldIsYourOyster #YouAreWorthyOfBigDreams
