IT LOOKS like the beef between former best friends, Bonang Matheba and Somizi Mhlongo, has reached new heights. Following Bonang revealing the root of their fight in her book, Bonang From A to B, things have gone from bad to worse.

BEING CRUCIFIED BY SOCIAL MEDIA

The TV personalities have both released books and the competition is big in terms of whose book will be the best seller. However, social media crucified Queen Bee's book after fans spotted a number of errors. In the book, she talks about why she stopped being friends with Somizi, saying it was clear that he did not have her best interest at heart. But it was the way she explained this that had social media up in arms.“Somizi didn't even realise why I stopped being friends with him. He thought it was because of something he thinks I think he did,” the book stated. Another mistake social media users spotted was that the book stated that she was born on 24 June 1987, while her birthday is on 25 June.

SOMGAGA AT NUMBER ONE

Unconfirmed rumours have been making rounds that Somizi is angry at Bonang for mentioning him in her book without consulting him. A week before her book launch, Bonang was celebrating her book being at number one. But in a blink of an eye, Somizi’s book, titled Dominoes, is now at number one. Somgaga seemingly mocked Bonang’s book when he posted a video on Instagram of him at Exclusive Books, where he wanted to confirm if his book is available. “It's not a book signing, it's just me passing by taking care of business to make sure there are no errors,” he said in the video. In another Instagram post, Somizi encouraged fans to get a copy of his book, making reference to Bonang's book, “I'm thinking of what I think I thought I thinked I think of thinking,” he wrote.

PUBLISHERS TAKING THE FALL

The publishers of Bonang's book, Blackbird Jacana Media, released a statement taking full responsibility for all the errors. “We acknowledge that mistakes happen; it’s how we deal with them that matters. We promise you a new and improved version very soon. If you aren’t satisfied with your purchase and want to return your copy to us; we will send you a brandnew edition as soon as it is available,” read the statement. A Jacana Media representative says the book will be ready at the end of August.

BOOK TAKEN OFF THE SHELVES

The bookselling chain store, Exclusive Books, also issued an apology to all their customers. “Exclusive Books have taken note of the public’s response to Bonang Matheba’s book, Bonang From A to B. Those customers who have purchased the book and are dissatisfied are welcome to return it for a full refund at any of our stores,” they said. Efforts to reach Bonang and Somizi were unsuccessful as they did not answer their phones or respond to messages.
