Actress Simphiwe Ngema got a chance to be with her husband during his final moments, says a family member.
According to details the family member gave Simphiwe arrived at the hospital after Dumi was shot during the hijacking and he was still alive.
“Simphiwe arrived at the hospital and Dumi was conscious enough to speak to her. She embraced him. He kept telling doctors he was in pain so Simphiwe did her best to comfort him and keep his spirits up. They spent time together while doctors evaluated him,” Mpumi Phillips told TshisaLive.
According to Mpumi Simphiwe had not said goodbye to Dumi when he was rushed to surgery as she believed he would make it through. “He was rushed off to theatre to attend to the wounds and after five hours of surgery, the doctors came out to tell Simphiwe that Dumi had died. She was supported by a close friend but was in serious shock,” Mpumi added.
Dumi and Simphiwe’s love story was an amazing one that many envied. Earlier this year Dumi told DRUM that marrying Simphiwe was the best decision he had made in his life.
Dumi passed away Wednesday evening after being shot in a hijacking.
