DINEO Nchabeleng stole our hearts as the sweet Angela on SABC1’s Generations. She is doing it again with her new role as Silindile on Mzansi Magic’s Ring of Lies. But she says she is learning to adapt as the industry is not the same as it was when she started out. She is also juggling motherhood with her career.

BEING A MOTHER

Dineo feels like motherhood is good for her growth as it has made her a better person, adding that watching her two-year-old daughter, Gabriella Bohlale, grow is an amazing experience. Her parents taught her to be independent and she wants to instill the same value in her daughter. “My daughter’s energy is amazing, she has her own personality and really keeps me on my toes. I’m a better person because of her,” she says. “When you’re a mother, you change. I am trying to instill in her the same values my parents instilled in me; to have a level of independence and I can see she has it. She can now tell me what she wants to do and what she doesn’t want to wear.” Dineo, who moved out of her parents’ house last year, says she never wants her child to follow in her footsteps. “My daughter will never be in the entertainment industry, she has to do something else; even if she desperately wants it. I know the industry very well; it can be cruel at times,” she says.

SUPPORTIVE PARENTS

After Dineo left Generations, there were rumours that she was on drugs, which she says almost broke her. She says she is grateful for her parents’ support throughout the difficult times. “My parents supported me even when things were written about me. They never took anything to heart because they know me. We talked about everything and they would often ask me what I needed help with. This allowed me to keep pressing on and to not fear achieving greatness,” says Dineo. She says her parents are also there to help with her daughter. “It’s their first grandchild, so everyone is hands on. I know she is in safe hands when I go to work.” Asked about co-parenting with her babydaddy, she refused to comment, only saying that she is raising her daughter just fine. When asked about her love life she says she is single and is not looking for love.

FUTURE PROJECTS

She has starred in a number of movies since she was nine years old and tells Move! that she will be shooting a movie in October, but does not want to dwell much on it. “My mission was to star in at least one movie this year and it is happening,” says Dineo.
