Divas International Festival postponed because of Tshwane protests

Cape Town – A local concert called the Divas International Festival – which was due to take place on Sunday, 30 April – has been postponed until August because of protest action in the area where it was due to be held.

The musical gathering was due to feature performances by Rebecca Malope, Simphiwe Dana, Lebo Sekgobela and others. The concert was to take place at Moretele Park.

More about the cancellation:

The man behind the concert, Morris Roda (who has a history of failed shows) had this to say in a statement to the press, "The postponement affords us an opportunity to have the festival expanded and to be a bigger celebration. It will form part of the Women's Month festivities. We thank our committed supporters who have believed in this brand for all these years."

According to the same press release ticket holders can use their tickets on the yet-to-announced new date of the show in August.
