DJ Sbu lands new job in Mpumalanga

Cape Town - Former Metro FM presenter DJ Sbu has joined Mpumalanga's Rise FM radio station, which is based in the capital city, Mbombela.

"This is DJ Sbu. Tune into Rise FM from July 1. I will be airing your breakfast show," said the DJ, whose real name is Sbusiso Leope.

Leope confirmed the good news to ANC supporters at the Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.

This was after a week of speculation about his appointment, which many people have seen as a good move on the radio station's part.

Rise FM station manager Ferdinand Mabalane said Leope is replacing presenter Makhosi Khoza, who will now do the afternoon drive.

"The biggest news we bring is that we have signed DJ Sbu Leope to drive our Breakfast Show, Monday to Friday from 6-9am with effect from July 1... We believe that DJ Sbu will take the breakfast on Rise FM to a new level, making it the most relevant show in Mpumalanga," said Mabalane on Monday.

Mabalane would not reveal how long Leope would be with the station.

Leope was fired from Metro FM last year March following charges of misconduct.
