Johannesburg – Things were a little different on this weeks Coke Studio, with 6 rappers combining forces to create one killer hit.
This episode brought the unexpected when 6 rappers from all over the country teamed up to create a hit with local music producer Gemini Major. Honoured to be in Gemini’s safe hands, the RAW artists took on the challenge of making a hit song in just two days.
As an added surprise the talented Gigi Lamayne was also brought in to feature on the track. In the end the group churned out their single, Feeling Myself.
The second half of the show brought together three artists from different musical backgrounds. Two afro-pop stars, Zinhle Ngidi and Ammara Brown, teamed up with Maskandi vocalist and guitarist, Sizwe Ngubane aka Sqalo. Producer Mobi Dixon jumped on board to help the trio create a track like no other.
Getting off to a busy start, the team jammed in studio to get some ideas flowing. As Ammara explored some sounds on her African instrument, the mbira, Zinhle played around with a few vocal melodies, while Sizwe strummed along on his guitar, allowing Mobi to figure out which direction to head in.
The end result was their track, Owami.
