Heaven help us all! The Stikeez are back!

Cape Town - Forget the Mayan calendar. The end of the world is now. Like an inevitable sequel horror movie to go even bigger and better than the original, the Stikeez are back at Pick n Pay to strike fear into parents, with shrieks of collector delight for kids.

Get ready for Stikeez 2: A whopping 24 new plastic creatures, this time venturing to the bottom of the ocean as Pick n Pay looks to boost its bottom-line, in a second iteration of the insanely popular promotion the retailer introduced a year ago.

Pick n Pay will very likely again cause a craze with a "do-again" of the most successful retail promotion Pick n Pay and in fact South Africa has seen in years.

Pick n Pay launched Stikeez last year that successfully went viral so quickly that rivals like Checkers and Spar were left scrambling to try and come up with similar collector campaigns to try and lure parents and the young consumers pulling their parents' purse strings with promotions like Little Shop mini's and Angry Birds.

Like out of a must-see Jaws 2 movie, Pick n Pay's "Stikeez 2: Creatures of the Deep" comes with 24 brand-new collectible figurines, with Pick n Pay customers getting one plasticine ocean creature for every R150 spent.

Of course there will be special bonus Stikeez. Of course there will be shopping insanity. Of course there will be a national hunt in households everywhere to find the most elusive Dr. O, Cee Cee the sea horse, Wok, Blinker, Tuffy and all the other sea monsters as bereaved parents everywhere try to ccomplete Stikeez 2 collections amidst this year's holiday shopping rush.

The new Stikeez 2 comes with an unbelievable Stikeez 2 Submarine Collector's Album (costing R50), a range of Stikeez 2 Plush toys of R99 (while stocks lasts of course), and a new downloadable app on the AppleApp Store and Google Play complete with a new mobile game. Headache pills for parents are not included.

"South Africa loved the Stikeez so we had to bring them back," says John Bradshaw, Pick n Pay's head of customer and loyalty division.

"We have tried to add new exciting elements and products, so we hope our customers will love the creatures of the deep as much as they loved our first set of Stikeez."

"We know how much our customers enjoyed the Super Animals app, and so we're trying something different with the Stikeez app. We hope customers enjoy it."

The Stikeez 2 campaign will run at Pick n Pay until 18 December - If by then there's still a world left.
