First to a million

Did you know that Super Mega was the first South African musician to hit 1 million followers on Twitter? True story. He’s also got over 600 000 followers on Instagram. How’s that for popular?

Ratings king

When AKA performed his hit, One Time, on Live Amp, it became the most watched episode of the music show. Not to mention it trended worldwide!

Breaking the internet

Move aside Kim K, our stars have the power to break the internet, too. When AKA dropped, Dreamwork, ft Yanga, it trended for 24 hours, and had Snoop Dogg jamming along (check that story out here).

Who needs an album?

It’s been nearly two years since AKA dropped his last album, Levels, but that hasn’t stopped him from walking away with two Metro FM awards this year.  The star has also received 4 Sama 22 nominations, two of which are for Record of the Year!

Hot for 2016

AKA is the only African based listed on BBC 1Xtra’s “HOT FOR 2016” list. The list also includes Bryson Tiller. 

Internationally recognised
