ICYMI: Sketchy Bongo, Dr. Bone and Nasty C put to the test on Coke Studio

Johannesburg – This weeks episode of Coke Studio saw South African rapper Nasty C join forces with Zimbawean artist Buffalo Souljah on a new track, while local kwaito artist Dr. Bone and songstress Ashlinn Gray teamed up with Sketchy Bongo to create a hit of their own.

Having never worked with each prior to Coke Studio, reggae/dancehall artist Buffalo Soulja and Nasty C put all their faith into producer Gemini Major who had worked with both muso’s in the past.

Using their differences to their advantage, the trio managed to pull off a track that reflects their individual styles. With a few afro-jazz string elements added, their song, Belong, soon flourished into a hit.

In the same episode, star producer Sketchy Bongo helped kwaito artist Dr. Bone and singer Ashlinn Gray combine their unique sounds to create kwaito pop song, Need Your Love.

Dr. Bone, who had never worked with another producer before, was keen to step into studio with Sketchy Bongo. And even though there were a couple of rough patches, the end result was musical magic.

Coke Studio airs every Saturday at 18:05 on e.tv.
