Johannesburg– Shield has announced the Shield MotionSense It’s Your Move campaign by challenging South African personalities Unathi Msengana and Janez Vermeiren to out move each other in their daily activities.

The campaign, which kicked off on Monday, 6 June for an eight week period, follows the launch of Shield MotionSense - the world’s first anti-perspirant with unique microcapsules that is activated by movement - and will see the two busy-body personalities battling it out to prove who moves more and who is better protected the more they move.

Unathi and Janez will then challenge each other to their personal favourite extreme movement activities, such as having to perform a dance routine or motor racing. Fans will be able to nominate challenges for Unathi and Janez to perform via social media using the hashtag #Shielditsyourmove. The best-nominated challenge will win their nominee the opportunity to do the challenge with either of the ambassadors.

We spoke to Janez about the campaign and much more including family, staying fighting fit.

What does movement mean to you?

My entire world is based on movement, without movement my entire life would be depressing. The endorphins that are generated from active movement keep me sane.

How do you stay calm under pressure?

I find if I work out in the morning then I know I’m going to have a calm day, it’s my therapy. You need to be happy within to keep calm, no matter what the day throws at you.

What’s the most adrenaline pumping thing you’ve ever done?

I don’t know how to choose! Physically, it would be The Cape Epic. I felt so much adrenaline before the race and when I crossed the finish line I felt pure satisfaction. I’d also say skydiving, bungee jumping and climbing Mount Everest also got my adrenaline pumping.

What’s your biggest fear?

Heights are probably my biggest fear, I will never get over heights.

What’s your top tip for staying healthy?

Drinking lots water and looking after your body. I love putting on my running shoes and going for a run in the morning. It’s also more exciting and healthy to explore a new city on foot.

How often do you work out?

I work out every day and mostly in the morning as it keeps my energy levels up all day.

What’s your favourite Muay Thai position?

Throwing an elbow, which is probably the most devastating thing you could ever do. I learnt that move in Bangkok.

What makes you smile?

My family and my kids – they are my everything. I can’t be in a bad mood when I get home and get to see my boys and spend time as a family.

What’s your secret to being such a cool dad?

I would say being involved, and not being distant. I do as much cool stuff with them as possible, you definitely gain respect from them by giving them time and by creating experiences and memories.

What makes you the perfect ambassador for this Shield campaign?

You don’t get anyone as active as I am. I really do have a 24-hour day and my activities are as diverse as my schedule. It’s great that I’m associated to a campaign that is making people more aware of just how much they move in their everyday lives.
