Johannesburg International Comedy Festival makes long-awaited return

Johannesburg – The Johannesburg International Comedy Festival (JICF) presented by 947 will return for its third edition in March 2019.

JICF is the largest independent international comedy festival in Africa. With its third instalment, over 40 local, continental and international comedians will be taking over the Nelson Mandela and The Fringe Theatres in Braamfontein from 14 to 17 March.

International artists set to perform at the festival include Dane Baptist from the UK, Britain’s Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda and Ali Al Sayed from the United Arab Emirates.

Of course some of mzansi’s finest acts will also hit the stage. This includes Loyiso Gola, John Vlismas, Tumi Morake and Schalk Bezuidenhout.

“I’m thrilled to announce the return of the Johannesburg International Comedy Festival. While we’ve been away – all sorts of craziness has gone down and the world has continued to be a funny place. What better way to laugh at all the goings-on than to do so with some of the funniest men and women performing in comedy today,” JICF founder and director Takunda Bimha said in a press statement.

A full list of acts and extra information will be made available on the JICF website
