SHE might have hogged news headlines in the past for all the wrong reasons, but one thing needs to be said about singer and actress, Kelly Khumalo; she knows how to reinvent herself. The mother of two has made a TV comeback after her stint on e.tv’s Rhythm City ended and she is now a presenter on a show called, Love and Matrimony on DStv’s GauTV.
WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT
She might not have had her fair share of love and matrimony in the past, but this doesn’t stop the controversial singer from hosting a talk show about love and marriage. On the show, Kelly profiles South African celebrities and well-known people about their love lives, marriages, break-ups and challenges in relationships. “It will be a new platform and environment for me. I look forward to hearing all the love stories, good or bad. If we all have one thing in common‚ it is the yearning for love‚ whether we admit it or not‚” Kelly told a magazine. She will put her guests in the hot seat during an up close and personal chat about their love and relationship experiences in an attempt to get them to open up about their understanding and interpretation of love and how they are handling it themselves.
NEVER BEEN IN LOVE
Kelly recently shared intimate details about her love life in a tell-all radio interview with Metro FM’s DJ Fresh, where she stated that she has yet to experience true love despite all the relationships she has been in. “I don’t think I’ve ever been in love or loved the way I wished to be. It’s always been about who’s around me and who’s giving me attention. It’s never really been about love or being in love with a particular person,” she said.
PAST RELATIONSHIPS
Looking back at her relationship with rapper Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye, she explained that she’s not on speaking terms with him and can’t think of anything good to say about him. “One day I would love to tell them (my children) about him and my son would love to know about his father outside of the bad relationship me and him (Jub Jub) had. I don’t know what he is like now and I don’t wish to know, but based on what I know about him, I want to protect my son from that person. The man I know is not deserving of raising my son. I’m sure he has changed, but for himself, not for me,” she added. Kelly was also in the news for her relationship with the late Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa. Kelly refused to comment when Move! contacted her.
