Love Back returns for season 4

Cape Town - Broken Heart Syndrome is a medical term referring to a short-term heart condition that's often brought on by stressful situations.

With the return of Love Back to Mzansi Magic on 11 October, one can only hope this show will reduce the number of broken hearts when it takes on the mammoth task of reuniting lovers.

The new season will see Thomas Gumede, former Love Back presenter, return as the presenter of season 4 when he takes up the reins from season 3 host, Wright Ngubeni. Gumede is excited to be back in the role of what he describes as "playing cupid, but not really" and hopes to spread "uthando" all over Mzansi.

"Nothing makes me happier than seeing two people find their way back to each other. Asking for love back doesn't always have a positive ending, but I enjoy the process of being there, in the moment, and helping someone ask for a second chance. It feels like I am playing cupid, but not really," said Gumede, who is also the producer of the show.

Kicking off the first episode of the season, we meet 31-year-old Ndlaleni Mkhwanazi from Dlamini in Soweto. Ndlaleni wrote to Love Back because she wants her ex-wife to give her another chance. Ndlaleni divorced her partner, Dimakatso, when the truth about Ndlaleni's infidelities surfaced. Ironically, it was Ndlaleni who filed for divorce.

"I've made mistakes and I've accepted that. I cheated on her, with a girl I always wanted in high school," recalls Ndlaleni, somberly.

Will Dimakatso find it in her heart to forgive Ndlaleni and give their relationship another chance?

Hearts will be broken, others mended when Love Back returns for a new season on Mzansi Magic (DSTV Channel 161) on Tuesday, 11 October at 20:00.
