Mandla Mandela and Rabia Clarke welcome their first child together

Cape Town - The grandson of former president Nelson Mandela, Mandla Mandela, and his wife Rabia Clarke welcomed their first child together on Friday.

The couple annouced the pregnancy last year, posting two positive pregnancy tests on Instagram.

"We are thrilled to announce the birth of our first baby in Cape Town today," Mandla wrote on Instagram on Friday.

He went on to say that the name of the baby will be revealed following a traditional naming ceremony in the next week or two.

According to the post both mother and baby are in "excellent health."
