Mary Twala, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Nomhle Nkonyeni honoured with National Orders

Johannesburg – Legendary South African entertainers Mary Twala, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Nomhle Nkonyeni were among guests honoured by the SA government at the National Orders on Thursday. 

The National Order is the highest award that can be bestowed upon an individual by the president of the country.

All three stars had the Order of Ikhamanga in silver bestowed upon them by South African president Cyril Ramaphosa at the prestigious ceremony. 

"This award is given to extraordinary indivuduals who have achieved excellence in the arts, culture, literature, music, journalism and sports," Minister Nathi Mthethwa explained on Twitter. 

The minister also took the took the time to congratulate all three legendary stars on the social media platform.
