Metro FM makes new line-up official

Johannesburg - Have you ever partied at Sandton’s popular nightclub Taboo during the day? Well, Metro FM threw the mother of all parties at Taboo on Wednesday afternoon, just to prove they still rock.

Metro FM finally unveiled its new line-up following a spate of resignations.

All the station’s new radio personalities mixed and mingled with the media and stakeholders, who were welcomed with cocktails and champagne.

The new line-up includes Masechaba Ndlovu, Dineo Ranaka, Luthando “LootLove” Shosha, Marian Nyako-Lartey, Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane, Adil More, Lesego “DJ Speedsta” Nkaiseng and Mpho “Mo-G” Madise.

It seemed that some were a bit confused about what the purpose of the event was – despite having shared the information previously, hosts Ranaka and Ndlovu attempted to explain that the party was about officially introducing the new line-up.

In between formalities, they kept the guests in stitches.

Ranaka, who replaced Bonang Matheba on Metro FM and co-hosts The Bridge with Lerato Kganyago from 10:00 to midday, laughed off rumours that there was a feud brewing between herself and Kganyago, with whom she shared jokes.

“Today, it is about our new Metro FM personalities,” said Sibongile Mtyali, Metro FM station manager, adding that the station’s new line-up was strategically set up to appeal to a younger audience.

Although most of the station’s radio personalities attended, Somizi Mhlongo’s absence was glaringly obvious.

What? A party without Somgaga? Eish!

Guests also walked away with goodies for participating in a segment of the breakfast show, whose hosts include Sikwane and Mhlongo.

New kid on the block Lady Zamar entertained guests with the popular song Love is Blind, featuring Mobi Dixon.

Afro-pop singer Donald Moatshe also moved the crowd when he dished out his romantic songs from his latest album Something More. We could not miss Mo Flava, Lulo Café and many other DJs in the house.

Unfortunately, the cash bar kicked in while I was still working and I cursed the bean counters.
