Mpho Maboi to host The Ultimate Sports Show on Metro FM

Cape Town – It has been over a month since The SABC announced that Robert Marawa would be parting ways with the broadcaster. 

Marawa’s sports broadcasts on Metro FM were immensely popular with listeners but fans that have been left bereft by his departure might enjoy a new programme called The Ultimate Sports Show with Mpho Maboi and Udo Carelse.

The new show was announced by the public broadcaster on Tuesday in a statement released to the press.

Here’s the full statement: 

“South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Sport division has announced the launch of The Ultimate Sport Show (TUSS) on Metro FM.  Renowned TV and Radio sports anchor Mpho Maboi will takes listeners on a journey into the world of women in sport every Thursday 18:00-19:30, starting 24 August 2017.

Bringing and fresh perspective to sporting discussions Mpho will also delve into the business and the influence that women have in sport.

Currently a studio and touchline sport presenter for SABC Sport, Mpho’s career spans over a decade in the entertainment industry. In April 2015, she joined Metro FM and is currently part of the South Africa’s biggest breakfast show Fresh Breakfast with DJ Fresh weekdays broadcasting from 05:00-08:00.”

Reaction to the announcement of the new show:

Some listeners and publications have said that Mpho and udo will be ‘replacing’ Robert Marawa with this new show, a narrative Mpho addressed on Twitter.
