Johannesburg - At a fittingly floral and fabulous affair – with #curlpride in every selfie – at Fine Living in Parkmore, Sandton, L’Oréal Paris launched its Elvive Curl Nourishment range and, much more importantly, announced Nomzamo Mbatha as the new L’Oréal Paris Elvive brand ambassador.
“You don’t go natural, you return to it,” said the gorgeous Mbatha on social-media platforms on Tuesday, showing off her rather fabulous afro.
Her bae, Maps Maponyane, was quick to congratulate her on Twitter.
Mbatha wasn’t at the event to bask in the good wishes, however.
She’s such hot property, she was out of the country, having just won over international audiences as a host at the Essence Music Festival in the US.
The week before she’d been hosting the international BET Awards ceremony.
The endorsement deal is further proof – as if any more was needed – that this is one global megastar in the making.
She describes the opportunity to work with L’Oréal Paris as a career highlight that puts her in the company of the brand’s former South African ambassador, award-winning actress Terry Pheto.
“I believe your hair is an extension of who you are, it is your crown, whichever way you choose to wear it. So I take great care of my hair and I am honoured to be a brand advocate for L’Oréal Paris. The partnership is an authentic representation of who I am as well as what the brand represents.”
Mbatha will make her L’Oréal Paris debut in digital and in-store advertising campaigns this month.
Meanwhile, natural hair ambassadors from around the country revelled in the chance to share their #curlpride at the party in Mbatha’s honour.
