1. Gareth Cliff wins mammoth lawsuit against M-Net

Axed Idols judge Gareth Cliff won a mammoth lawsuit against M-Net in January, just hours before the first auditions for the show were due to start. Cliff wanted his job back and R25m for defamation and breach of contract. Read the full story here

2. The 1 photo from the Gareth Cliff case that has everyone talking

As team Gareth Cliff celebrated his victory over M-Net in court, a single photo from the proceedings quickly went viral. 

The photo, snapped by photographer Alon Skuy, sees Cliff arrive at the court with his legal representative, Dali Mpofu, while a man in the background digs through a rubbish skip. Read the full story here

3. Beloved SA TV star dies

South African actor Nyembezi Kunene died at the age of 57 on Saturday, 4 June. 

According to a Facebook post by Kunene's son, Sonqoba, the actor died at the Lesedi Hospital in Soweto after a long battle with diabetes. Read the full story here

4. Reports: Mandoza fighting for his life

Here's the statement that was posted on Facebook by Mandoza's friend and Producer Gabi Le Roux:

A great Son of our Mzansi Soil is in trouble. Mandoza Nkalakatha is fighting for his life after having cancer treatment in 2015; it has unfortunately metastasized to his brain. Doctors and medical staff are trying whatever they can and we are not giving up hope for his recovery.
Mpho and the Tshabalala Family has asked all his Friends and Fans to Pray for him, beckon the Ancestors and keep him in your thoughts during this time. Please also be respectful and discreet in how you react to this announcement.

7. Confirmed: Gareth Cliff fired from Idols after race comments

M-Net confirmed that Gareth Cliff would no longer be part of the Idols SA judging panel early January. 

The news came after Gareth was embroiled in controversy regarding a race debate around estate agent, Penny Sparrow. Responding to questions on whether to criminalise racist posts on social media, Gareth Cliff said: "People really don't understand free speech at all."

9. WATCH: SA dance video goes viral in a big way

An amazing South African dance video went viral and had over 26 000 views in less than 24-hours.

The video, choreographed and co-directed by Rudi Smit, was filmed in Milnerton and Plumstead and sees the local dancers smashing it to the Meghan Trainor hit, Me Too.
