PICS: Nomzamo Mbatha inspires and encourages young girls

Cape Town - In celebration of Women's Month actress and PUMA ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha joined Little Lambs NPO at an event at Inkwenkwezi High School in Dunoon on Thursday.

Taking inspiration from Cara Delevingne's #DoYouStories, she addressed 700 young girls about women empowerment.

Nomzamo Mbatha is the local face of the PUMA DO YOU campaign, which seeks to encourage women everywhere to have the confidence to focus on their strengths and take charge in their world.

Little Lambs is a local NPO committed to reducing child poverty and improve quality of life for children.

Speaking about the influences, strengths and tools that have helped her to become an empowered woman, Nomzamo said: "Seeing other women contribute to social change pushes me to do more, and to the best of my ability."

"Foremost to me is knowing and understanding the responsibility we hold as women of the current generation, and what legacy we leave for women of the next. One woman has the ability to empower another and allow her to shine her light too," she added.

"My aunt and my mother - two women who grew up having absolutely nothing. Who have loved deeply and suffered loss. My pillars of strength who teach me the power of resilience and perseverance. Truly, they are the reason for my discipline, groundedness and work ethic," she said when talking about the influencial women in her life.

When asked what PUMA's female focused campaign #DoYou means to her, Nomzamo said: "Being the best version of yourself and constantly breaking boundaries whilst doing that. In turn, inspiring and empowering someone else to do the same. Running your own race, at your own pace."
