Durban – A Durban radio personality on Thursday called on women to support gospel icon Sfiso Ncwane’s wife Ayanda.
“I would like to request that all women, especially those in media, protect and give support to Ayanda,” Inanda FM radio personality Mapule Mchunu said at Ncwane’s memorial service at the eThekwini Community Church in Durban.
Thousands descended on the venue in the Durban CBD to sing praise and worship songs. Ncwane died of kidney failure at a hospital in Fourways, Johannesburg, on Monday. He was 37.

“Women have the power to say anything. Can we stand together and try with all our might to support each other and stop undermining and belittling each other?” Mchunu said.
She called for support for Ayanda: “We have the power to uplift her, nurture and support her until she gets back on her feet.”
She said her Ncwane had lived a happy life.
“Sfiso's life has ended. He lived his life to the fullest and God has also done his part in all this."
She urged the Ncwane family to stand together. She said Ncwane’s love and support had shaped her.
Ncwane's funeral is expected to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
