Reeva's parents tell Huisgenoot they are 'furious' about 'lies' in Lifetime movie

Cape Town - Barry and June Steenkamp - parents of Reeva Steenkamp - told Huisgenoot that they are "furious" about the "lies" shown in the Lifetime movie about their daughter's tragic death.

Lifetime has made a film about Oscar Pistorius and the murder of Reeva Steenkamp. Entertainment Weekly released the exclusive promo for Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer earlier this monthwhich was met with mixed reactions.

Both Reeva's parents found out about the movie via a Facebook message. According to Huisgenoot they were at their restaurant in Port Elizabeth, and it was there that they watched the trailer for the first time.

The Juice spoke to Steenkamp family lawyer, Tania Koen who confirmed, saying: "It was specifically shocking for Barry who found out about the film via a link that someone sent him on Facebook."

Barry and June Steenkamp were especially appalled by the way their daughter is depicted in the movie trailer. June told Huisgenoot that Reeva was a "pure Christian woman" and when referring to the bedroom scene, said: "It's lies."

Barry could not watch the entire trailer, telling Huisgenoot: "The bedroom scene..."

They are just as frustrated with Lifetime who claims the movie is told from Reeva and her mother's point of view.

"They weren't contacted at all. There was no input," Koen told The Juice

The film will premiere on American network, Lifetime on Saturday, 11 November.
