Remembering Hugh Masekela: 7 of his greatest hits

Cape Town - World renowned South African trumpeter Hugh Masekela has died at the age of 78.

Masekela has been undergoing cancer treatment since 2008, and underwent surgery in March 2016 when the cancer started to spread. 

The legendary musician started to hone his, now signature, sound in the late 1950s during a period of intense creative collaboration, most notably performing in the 1959 musical King Kong, written by Todd Matshikiza.

His solo career spanned over five decades, during which time he released over 40 albums.
