SABC saddened by the death of Nomhle Nkonyeni

Cape Town - The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has released a statement following the death of veteran actress Nomhle Nkonyeni.

Veteran actress Nomhle Nkonyeni has died at the age of 77.
 
The celebrated actress recently received the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver by President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria.

A statement released by SABC spokesperson Vuyo Mthembu says: "Ms. Nkonyeni has been instrumental and played a leading role, in shaping the arts and culture industry in South Africa and her contribution was recognised when she received the Order of Ikhamanga in Silver from the President of South Africa, amongst other accolades.

"The SABC sends its condolences to Mam Nkonyeni's family, friends and colleagues in the industry," says the statement.
