Cape Town - SA’s millennials tuned in to watch these teen TV presenters every day without fail – and plenty would be up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday just to see what these young hotshots had to say in between their fave cartoons.
But it’s been years since these local stars first made their kiddies’ show debuts – and life is very different for most of them now! Here’s what they’ve been up to:
1. Sade Gilberti
The half-Italian, half-Zulu beauty who became a household name for her energetic presenting on the youth show Yo-TV moved to London back in 2015. Sade told Zaleb’s she relocated to the UK to be closer to her family in Italy. The 32-year-old now works as an actress there – and she’s found a new creative passion: photography.
2. Carly Fields
Carly Fields was the bubbly blonde on Yo-TV. The 35-year-old now spends her time acting and does some voice-over work, TV SA reports. The self-proclaimed fitness freak is the brand ambassador for ASICS – and she’s the proud mom of two adorable girls.
3. Roxy Burger:
You might recognise this gorgeous blue-eyed lass from the M-Net kids show KTV. Since then, Roxy’s been a firm fixture on SA TV screens. She’s had stints on Top Billing, MTV Choice and Strictly Come Dancing. The 31-year-old tied the knot to Neil Sharga back in 2014. The couple is expecting their first child in January 2018, according to Cosmopolitan.
4. Sipho Ngwenya
Sipho, also known as Psyfo, is well-known for his out-there personality on the hit kiddies show YO-TV. After leaving the popular show in 2004, he landed a huge acting role as Ajax and the reality drama Generations. According to TV SA, The 35-year-old also focused his energy on his music career by starting his own record label called, SID Records. His produced records for the late Mandoza and Lebo Mathosa.
5. Musa Mthombeni
This adorable former Yo-TV presenter is now a medical doctor! After the 27-year-old left the set of the kids’ show, he pursued other acting jobs while studying to become a physician, he told Move Mag. He hopes to one day start his own business to create jobs for the unemployed.
6. Hulisani Ravele
Also known as Cece, Hulisani was famous for her megawatt smile on Yo-TV’s Wildroom. The 29-year-old is now doing amazing things in the media, marketing, and film industries. According to Youth Village, the freckled beauty has been a presenter on Vodacom’s Millionaires and is a project manager at Praekelt, a digital agency in Joburg.
