Shekhinah opens up about working with Black Coffee

Johannesburg – When renowned SA DJ Black Coffee teamed up with singing sensation Shekhinah to create their track, Your Eyes, everyone expected a hit – and that’s what we got.

Surprisingly Shekhinah was not so sure about how well the song would do once it was released to the public. Speaking to The Juice at the Braam Beach Party, the star says she did not expect the track to blow up the way it did.

"I thought people were gonna hate it," she told us, adding that she was not sure how well the version of the song they had chosen to release would do.

Opening up about her studio time with Black Coffee, Shekhinah says she liked working with the DJ because he had no ego.

“Working with Black Coffee was honestly one of the most amazing things ever. Not because it was Black Coffee, but because it was like another level-headed artist. We sort of came to each other openly so he didn’t have an ego basically. It was different – most producers are the boss of the session, and he wasn’t the boss, it was equal.”

Now that she’s got this collab under her belt, the star says she keen to work with other artists too.

“I’d like to do a collaboration with a female. So probably Rouge. Males, I would like to collaborate with Tshego from Family Tree. Well, we have actually, but not properly. And Nasty C, we’ve already collaborated but not properly.”
