Somizi buys meals for the homeless and encourages fans to do the same

Johannesburg – Somizi’s giving spirit never ceases to amaze us. Not too long ago the star made a waiter's day by leaving him a hefty tip, and now he has made the day of many more people by giving meals to those who can’t afford them.

Somizi says he was inspired to do the good deed after he noticed some homeless people who could not afford to buy burgers at McDonalds on Tuesday even though they were on promotion for only R10.

“That inspired me to come in here today to buy burgers, like a full meal, at McDonalds. I’m doing it with my own money, just because I’m the ambassador doesn’t mean that I’m getting it for free. I decided out of my own pocket to buy between 150 to 500 meals,” he said in a video on Instagram, adding that he would be handing out the meals at Joubert Park in Johannesburg.

The star also asked his fans to follow in his footsteps and give to someone in need. “I’m also encouraging you guys to just buy one fresh meal, anywhere it doesn’t have to be McDonalds, just buy one fresh meal for a homeless person and give to somebody that needs it.”
