Cape Town – On Sunday night in Las Vegas former Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters won The Miss Universe beauty pageant

The business management graduate has sent local social media users into a frenzy with her win, which marks only the second time in history that a South African has won the contest. The first was Margaret Gardiner in 1978.

Demi-Leigh’s life is set to change and here’s three ways how, according to Bustle, Miss Universe.com and Elite Daily :

1. Adé van Heerden will now become Miss South Africa as Demi-Leigh will be performing her Miss Universe duties.

Here’s a post from Miss South Africa, Cindy Nell, congratulating both Demi-Leigh and Adé:

2. Demi-Leigh will be whisked away to New York where a luxury apartment is waiting for her. The pageant queen will get to live in the glamorous digs for a year.

3. Demi-Leigh will also receive a salary as Miss Universe for a year for performing her duties.
