'Vampire Diaries' star coming to SA for Comic Con Africa

Johannesburg – Just one week before the festival is set to get underway, Comic Con Africa has announced that another international star will be joining the line-up.

"We are overly excited to announce that Daniel Gillies, better known as 'Elijah' has been added to the list of international celebrity guests at Comic con Africa 2019! This can be marked as one of the highlights that fans can look forward to this year," a press statement revealed.

Daniel is well-known for his role as Elijah Mikaelson on the hit series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals.

Other characters he has taken on include Dr Joel Goran on Saving Hope and Robert Durst in Lifetime's, The Lost Wife of Robert Durst

Daniel now joins Avengers star Anthony Mackie and Star Trek icon William Shatner who will also be attending the comic book festival in Johannesburg.

Unfortunately, fans were left disappointed when organisers announced that Game of Thrones actor Isaac Hempstead Wright would no longer be attending the festival as he is "contractually obligated to attend the Primetime Emmy Awards."

Comic Con Africa 2019 takes place from 21 to 24 September at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
