WATCH: 8 songs to remember SA music legend Ray Phiri

Cape Town – On Wednesday morning, it was announced that South African jazz musician Ray Phiri died.

The veteran of local music made a lasting impact on the industry and was due to perform at this year’s Rocking the Daisies with a slew of other artists excited to share the stage with him.

We’ve rounded up eight songs to remember Phiri and his band Stimela, from Whispers in the Deep to I Hate Telling a Lie.

For those who don’t know, Ray was a self-taught guitarist who has been in the music industry for several decades; listening to him and Stimela play, was a unique experience.
