Johannesburg - It’s a chilly Friday morning, but the room is warm and the mood is happy.
Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa moves around greeting everyone who skipped their usual morning ritual to celebrate the launch of her new maternity range, SE Preggoz, at the Carabella Trendy Moms store in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
Outside the store are tables with Tropika beverages, cookies, candy and popcorn.
The lights from the TV crew attract passersby who stop to ask what all the festivities are about.
Mlotshwa, actress and owner of SE Preggoz, tells the small crowd of journalists gathered outside Carabella – where her fashion will be sold – that her inspiration was born when visiting the US while pregnant with her first son.
She had struggled to find clothes that “embodied the perfect balance of comfort and style”.
“The first collection launched two years ago and was a resounding success. It sold out within three weeks,” said a glowing Mlotshwa, who promised that she was not expecting a baby.
The range allows pregnant women to look fashionable, fabulous and feel empowered during their nine months of bliss.
SE Preggoz is certainly not your typical maternity wear.
Her 2017 collection will now consist of seven styles, two of which will be exclusively launched on her website, simplyenhle.com.
The bohemian, versatile winter collection that consists of shirts, jeans and dresses is priced from R300 to R2 000.
“With more and more women juggling work and motherhood, such a range aspires to play an important role in instilling confidence while never compromising on style for the working mother.
“This collection is very comfortable, off-the-shoulder, with garments that cater to our changing weather,” the calm and friendly designer told City Press, while talking us through her new range.
