We talk to Maurice Paige about his latest role on Suidooster

Cape Town - Former Isidingo actor Maurice Paige (34) has joined the cast of kykNet's Afrikaans soap Suidooster. 

The actor and athlete - who spent 11 years at Isidingo - will now take on the role of Tyron Daniels, who he describes as "brash" and "a bit of a hustler."  

Here's what Maurice had to say about his new character and joining the Suidooster "family."

Will your character on Suidooster be different or similar to cheeky Calvin Xavier from Isidingo?

My character in Suidooster is Tyron Daniels and he is quite different from Calvin. I had to ensure that viewers see and relate differently to Tyron and that they don't draw comparisons. Tyron is also obviously Afrikaans and most Capetonians would know or have a met someone like him. He is a good and sociable guy but he can be a bit of a hustler too. 

If you were to meet your Suidooster character in real life, do you think you'd be friends?

Interesting question! Tyron is a bit brash and forward though very likeable. I'll know where I stand with him as he doesn't beat around the bush either. Perhaps I'll be too reserved for his liking! 

What's been the best part of joining the Suidooster family so far?

The cast, crew and production team at Suidooster is very welcoming and everyone made me feel at home immediately. Suidooster has a professional and dedicated team but despite it being a working environment (and this might sound like a cliché) it feels like you are a family. 

You also do bodybuilding in real life, will we be seeing you shirtless on Suidooster? (Asking for the fans)

Well, Tyron's muscles are often visible and I think it might just happen since he isn't a shy guy... Time will tell!

Isidingo is filmed in Jozi and Suidooster in the Mother City? Have you made the move to Cape Town now?

Yes I'm part of Suidooster's full-time cast and have moved to Cape Town. Like with every big move where you have to resettle there were challenges but it was pretty awesome to come back to the Mother City. I love being in my home town again and there are a lot of pros being in Cape Town.
