Zwai and Melanie Bala confirm divorce

Cape Town - Local musician Zwai Bala and his wife veteran broadcaster Melanie Bala have confirmed their separation. 

In a joint statement released on Twitter the couple wrote: "We confirm that we have separated and divorce proceedings are underway."

According to the statement the couple have always strived to be the best versions of themselves in the marriage, but have "sadly fallen short of that."

They end the statement by saying they are committed to "jointly" raise their children and will continue to be "great friends."

Zwai and Melanie married in 2008 and share two kids together.
