Oscar Pistorius' uncle, Arnold, addressed the media shortly after the paralympian was sentenced earlier today.
Arnold Pistorius told journalists that it has been a harrowing 20 months and that they were emotionally drained. "We accept this judgment and sentencing and we appeal to media to do the same. After twenty months of relentless trial, I ask you to let us move forward and give us dignity and privacy," he added.
Arnold also slammed the state for "keeping a a cloud of premeditated murder over this case for as long as possible."
Oscar's uncle hoped that this would be the start of the healing process for the former athlete. "Oscar will embrace this opportunity to pay back society and we will be there to guide and support him," he added.
