 5. Itu and Bonang (and Minnie)

In South Africa's version of the Solange - Jay Z lift incident, Itumuleng Khune was caught on cctv groping Bonang. There was hell to pay in the weeks that followed and the effects were felt even several months later, when Itu's sister was criticised for taking snaps with Itu's new girlfriend.

 

4. The fall and return of Generations

When Mzansi's favourite soapie was tragically embroiled in a labour strike that saw them fire actors on mass and axe the show, we were in tears. But then it returned as Generations Legacy and we just laughed.

 

3. Cassper and AKA beef!

It's the tale of hip hop in 2014, AKA and Cassper initially feuded over who had the hottest song in Mzansi, but it soon got out of hand and even a year-end peace offering from Cassper couldn't save it.

2. Oscar goes to jail

The Oscar Pistorius murder trial had us on the edge of our seats all year. From leaked video footage of him re-enacting the shooting, to him breaking down in court, to the final verdict.

1. The death of Senzo Meyiwa

It was a sad day when we woke up to find one of our heros had been slain. The drama that unfolded in the aftermath was riveting, but nothing could get us over the pain of losing our number 1.
