Pearl Thusi on her new book, new movie and more

Pearl Thusi is ready to share her story with South Africa. The radio and TV personality is working on a book about being a single mother. Pearl, who's usually very busy, spoke to CliffCentral's Kat and Arye about her daughter, career and being confident in who you are.

Speaking about the inspiration for the the book, she revealed that she was forced by her Metro FM co-host, Phat Joe to write it.  "It's coming out soon. I'm actually working with Joe. I'm grateful to him. He's been very supportive and loving. I mean, he's my big brother now. He's done so much for me. So much for my confidence, so much for my work ethic."

Pearl, who became a mother at a young age, has worked her way up in the entertainment industry. She started out as a model and then slowly started showing up all over our TV screens. She said she realised that she can do more than just being a mother.

"You really need to believe and persevere and have a very enduring spirit. A lot of it, I do credit myself for my work. I'm still here by the grace of God. I still have the same friends and the same family and I'm grateful for that." Pearl, who is also an actress on Isidingo, has her sights set on becoming  an acclaimed actress. She's just shot her first feature film and is very excited about this new venture.

Although she's on top of her game right now, she's also had her share of disappointments in the industry. But she told the show that she's learnt the art of letting go.  "My prayer is: "I'm never upset when I don't get a job. I'm never confused, I mean I am nervous and anxious when I do get it as well. I'm probably more scared of getting it, then not getting it because of the challenges that will come and how seriously I take my work. When I don't get something, I know it doesn't belong to me and there's a reason why it is not with me. When it's with me I know that it's mine, it belongs to me."
