REPORTS: DJ Sbu to pay for 'free advertising'

DJ Sbu will reportedly have to cough up for airtime used to advertise his energy drink, MoFaya.

This is according to Sunday World, who are reporting that Metro FM is currently doing an audit into all of DJ Sbu's shows.

"They pulled out all the tapes of the shows he had done for review to tally every mention he'd made of his energy drink. And, since they consider it to be advertising, it must be paid for," an insider told the paper.

This follows DJ Sbu's suspension from the station after he awkwardly advertised his energy drink at this year's Metro FM awards.

Metro FM spokesperson Happy Ngidi said they had no knowledge of an audit, but explained that no one who works for the station can be allowed to abuse airtime in any way.

DJ Sbu said that he also had no knowledge of an audit but if it came to that, he would pay the money back provided all other DJs were put through the same audit for mentioning any other brands on air.

When it rains, it pours hey.
