Reeva's parents, June and Barry Steenkamp, broke their silence over Judge Masipa's ruling in the Oscar Pistorius trial on Friday.
The Steenkamps have signed a number of deals with international press for money and, in essence, have snubbed many of the local media's attempts to get comment.
In their first interview post the ruling with NBC, June and Barry were in shock. "She died a horrible death, a horrible, painful, terrible death. And she suffered you know. And he shot through the door and I can't believe that they also believe it was an accident."
She went on to add that she hasn't given much thought to Oscar. "I really don't care what happens to Oscar. This is not going to change anything because my daughter is never coming back. He is still living and breathing, you know... and she is gone forever. I just don't feel that this is the right sentence. You know they believe his story and I don't believe that story."
June says that Reeva's death has robbed them. "This has taken so much away from Barry, from Reeva and myself. Reeva will never have a child. Will never have a grandchild. She will never have a wedding and things that women of her age... she was already talking about having a child, looking forward to that. He's taken her life away from her. She was so happy."
